Do you yearn to know what we are, and why we are here, before you die?
by sabastious inlets face it, we don't know what humans are.
science is doing a good job at uncovering many facts about us, but even science cannot explain consciousness yet.
conciousness is still a strong mystery to us.

i also continue to search and read and right now Sitchen is definately on my radar he has alot to say with considerable evidence.
I don't know that I will find out what I want to know before i die but i will continue to bang my head against the brick wall hopeful that i can chip away at the big mysteries. I can't stop it is who I am.

They Came, They Said, They Left
by snowbird inthey came to the rural black belt county of wilcox in alabama, in the year 1970. hailing from exotic places such as new york, new jersey, connecticut, and massachusetts, they were bright, articulate, and persuasive.. they said the end was close, that the year 1975 would probably be the farthest limit for the current "system of things.
" some of us believed them and embraced their theology wholeheartedly.
we wrote letters of resignation to our respective churches and hit the highways and byways, hawking the wt message to stunned families and friends.. 1975 came and went - nothing.

I was not a witness in 75 became one in 86 and had absolutely no previous connection with jw's during the time I studied not once was 75 mentioned. I didn't ask because why would i think of it. i assumed the teachings from 1914 were the same as the current ones because thats pretty much how the catholic church works the only experience i had.
One day I heard some passing mention of it and so I asked someone and they said "oh some people thought the end would come in 75 they were overly anxious" seemed reasonable took awhile before i found out about the extent of it. I didn't do the research I should have i guess computers were not easy access than.
Now the history of the org is easy to see most people google today so anyone who still joins has no one to blame but themselves.

often times, i read in the magazines that only among jehovahs people will you find true friendship.

I became a witness in my 30's and it just so happened that the person who studied with me was the most popular pioneer rich, classy, vacations beautiful home she had boat dock parties it was lots of fun.
I'm in with he in crowd i go where the in crowd goes I"m in with the in crowd and I know what the in in crowd knows.
It was all very insidious it stopped being fun and stopped being the truth and now that we've left it certainly stopped being anything like true friendship. I knew them all for 25 yrs and now oddly enough another woman who she also studied with the same time as me is has checked out to and we talk on the phone. All those great bible studies that pioneer had are abandoning ship and she is divorced and remarried last I heard.
Oh the twists and turns of life.

Articles like this just increase the possibilities of more suicides among young adult jw's.

Today is my brithday and I feel depressed.
by TotallyADD inwoke up next to my wonderful wife after getting up she make me a great breakfast and for dinner tonight grilled steak and a brithday cake she made.
so why am i depressed?
could it be my children will not call me today to wish me a happy brithday.
-
nancy drew
first of all i want to wish you a very happy birthday and just because its your bday doesn't mean you have to feel happy sometimes everything is okay and we feel guilty for feeling sad.
There are times when I don't have any immediate reason for sadness but I get a wave of it that comes over me stuff like that just happens sometimes.
However yes I'M glad we left the org it's not the truth and it's dangerous but sometimes i do miss some of the people I knew but I realize that they have to come to a realization within themselves about the issue.
i remain hopeful but I'm moving on with my life and It's so much better than being a jw.

I understand I said I could not in good conscience direct anybody to the organization for truth and the elder gasped that would be apostasy.
we never went back

Do You Think You Would Be Terribly Missed If You Died?
by minimus inlately, i have noticed that many suddenly have died or as it is usually expressed, died "unexpectedly" in the local obituaries.. i have come to know of many young people suddenly deciding to kill themselves for whatever reasons.
most that i have known about had either financial or personal issues and sadly, they just gave up.. i wonder if we were suddenly gone, would people take notice?.....
(and don't worry about me.
